Customs of an Idealist

The main root of idealism is “ideal”, which comes from the Latin word idea. We all have great ideas from time to time, some more than others. The question is are you great at coming up with ideas? Or are you someone that has an idea and brings it to fruition? I’ll be honest with you, I was an Idealist for many years, and not just when it came to business but also in my personal life. I had dreams and visions that I would do great things and open businesses and be successful. I had a dream of opening a juice shop, a food truck, a restaurant, and so much more. I’ve even gone so far as to create a business plan but never executed it. I’d come up with excuses and say things such as, “maybe next year I’ll start the business”, or “I work full time; I don’t have the time to put into this right now”, and of course my favorite “I don’t have the money or resources”. Now I’m here to say, STOP WITH THE EXCUSES! Either you’re going to continue furthering someone else’s dream or you’re going to make your dream come alive. This is not to misconstrue the idea of nor to label an idealist as a crude factor. They play a huge role in bringing life to what can only be imagined. They take the dreams and visions to create an idea. If they don’t have the resources or the drive, they can help entrepreneurs build and expand differently. Idealist, it may not be your ambition to start a business or create but one thing is for sure, your services are needed. Don’t feel futile, use your gifts to help a family member or friend instead of working for someone who doesn’t value you.

Fundamental Business Characteristics

It’s mandatory for entrepreneurs to wear countless hats when running a business. Whether you have a full team from the beginning or if you’re starting alone. There’s a demand placed on you as an entrepreneur to know a little about a lot; meaning: For most entrepreneurs, we have to learn how to market our product/service, brand ourselves, how to separate business funds from personal with Account/Finance Management, learn to keep track of all expenses, receipts, and paid invoices with your bookkeeping, and become an expert in customer service. This is mandated in order, to be a successful entrepreneur. Following up with clients and potential new business goes hand in hand with customer service. You can’t afford to miss out on new business or neglect loyal clients. You need leadership skills, to be proficient in time management, also planning and project management. Arguably, one of the most important attributes to have in business is Networking. Take every opportunity to connect with new people/businesses in every field. You never know when they will be beneficial to your growth. So when I say “connect with new people” I don’t mean just talk about you and your business. A good rule of thumb when networking, don’t talk about yourself or your business. Take the initiative to ask what they do and how you can help them in their business. To be successful you have to practice humility and realize it’s not about you and what you can get from others, but what you can do to help them.

As you can see building a business or putting energy into anything you set your mind to is no walk in the park. Lack of knowledge leads most individuals astray from the destination of the end game. If you’re tired, pray for the liveliness that you need. If you want to quit, take a moment to breathe and outweigh your pros and cons. Take on examples like networking to interact with different perceptions of building and growing. Utilize this blog for your benefit and do more research. There is always a solution to every problem; the question is are you willing to do what it takes to find the answer. Whether you are an entrepreneur or an idealist, one thing is for sure you both have the vision. One will create the idea and the other will execute it.
